2008-2009 (For)Play Series
The (For)Play Series debuted in the 2007-2008 Season: four plays, just for play. Anchored by professional directors, this series featured actors, professional and non-professional, reading classic works of drama. It was such a hit that we decided to bring it back a second year, and go one step further.
Introducing
Public (For)Play
[Public Displays of Reflection]
We are excited to bring you a second year of (For)Play, with two major changes: performances will take place outside the NC Stage walls (where? stay tuned!), and all performances will be free.
Play titles are TBA, but we will continue to pick classic plays from throughout history. We can tell you that we're doing a reading of Hamlet January 20 - 25, 2009, as a lead up to our Mainstage production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. So mark your calendars!
From Angie Flynn-McIver, Producing Director:
"Every year when Charlie and I are choosing shows for NC Stage's season, there are many plays we consider, debate the practicality of producing, and finally put aside and once again say, 'Someday.' The great appeal of this seriesis that it allows us to turn our attention completely to artistic side of theatre for a week. No lines to learn, no pressure to perform, no technical glitches to work out - just the actors and director going elbows-deep into the script."
