Immediate Theatre Project

Immediate Theatre Project Partner Company in Residence
Immediate Theatre Project is the new Partner Company in Residence at North Carolina Stage Company. Born at the same time at the Catalyst Series, ITP produced some of the most acclaimed works in the series including All My Sons, winner of the 2007 Alley Award for Best Catalyst Show. ITP's relationship with NCSC has grown steadily closer over the years, and in 2006 the two companies co-produced the smash hit It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, now in its third year and touring the Southeastern United States this season. The Partner Company in Residence Series offers additional quality programming for NC Stage patrons from a company described by Tony Kiss of the Asheville Citizen-Times as "one of the city's best."

Why has no one ever tried anything like this before? Two shows running in the same space every night. A double feature, double header, call it whatever you want but don’t miss this unprecedented Asheville theatre event.

The early show, On The Verge: Three Victorian women. Joyous. Surprising. Relentlessly optimistic. A love-letter from 1985 to the wonders of the 20th century.

The late show, Below The Belt: Three company men. Dark. Cynical. And absurdly, brutally funny.

It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play

It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play
adapted for the stage by Joe Landry
in Asheville December 2008

If you think you know It's a Wonderful Life, it's time to think again. This clever adaptation invites you to experience Frank Capra's beloved story in a refreshingly new and intimate way. Join us live in the studios of WBFR Radio on Christmas Eve, 1946. There, the dozens of characters and locations of the classic movie will be brought to life by the long-lost radio formula of five actors, a live sound effects artist, and your imagination. Already becoming an Asheville tradition, this new imagining of the uplifting story of George Bailey is the perfect antidote to today's commercialized and stress-fueled holiday season. Co-produced with North Carolina Stage Company. Now in its third year and touring the Southeastern United States.
