Meet the cast of Be Here Now

The cast of this quirky and charming romantic comedy is made up of long-time Asheville locals as well as a couple of out-of-towners! Read below to learn more about the faces of Be Here Now and then grab your tickets! And don’t miss this cast announcement video to hear the cast introduce themselves!

Patricia Snoyer Black (Patty Cooper) is Professor Emerita of Drama at UNC Asheville. There she served as Chairman of the Drama Dept., Director of Special Events for the Chancellor and as Artistic Director of Tanglewood Children’s Theatre. For Childsplay, a professional theatre company in Tempe, Arizona, Patricia worked as the Director of Education Outreach, director of the tour shows The Imaginators and The Tomato Plant Girl, and as the Project Director for a million-dollar federal grant developing the use of drama as a teaching tool for language development with preschool children. For NC Stage, she has performed in Twelfth Night, A Wrinkle in Time, directed Most Valuable Player: The Jackie Robinson Story, Handle with Care, and served as President of their Board of Directors. Nationally, she served on the American Alliance for Theatre and Education (AATE) and Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA/USA) boards. Thanks for coming to the show!

Philip Kershaw * (Mike) is a multi-disciplinary artist who graduated from the University of Houston MFA Acting program after earning his undergraduate degrees at the University of Maryland, College Park. He has worked on regional productions for the Peterborough Players, Theatre Under the Stars, the Houston Shakespeare Festival, A.D. Players, Adventure Theatre MTC, The Wheel Theatre Company, Unity Theatre, Dirt Dogs Theatre Co.,The Ensemble Theatre and Round House Theatre. He recently directed the world premiere of How I Learned to Play Tennis at the University of Houston. He is also developing a full-length play, titled FELLOWSHIP, as a member of the Rec Room’s Writer’s Group.

Rebecca Morris* (Bari) Last seen as Henrietta Leavitt in ITP’s production of Silent Sky, Rebecca is thrilled to be back on the boards at NC Stage.  Favorite roles include: Catherine Croll in Rapture Blister Burn (NCSC), Constanze in Amadeus (NCSC), Bawd in Pericles (NCSC), Milady in The Three Musketeers (Flatrock Playhouse), Claire in Proof (Flatrock Playhouse), Harper Pitt in Angels in America: Parts 1 & 2 (NCSC), Geraldine Barclay in What the Butler Saw (NCSC), and Mary Bailey in Live from WVL Radio: It’s a Wonderful Life (itp reg’l tour). Film / TV Credits: Gigi & Nate (with Marcia Gay Harden and Jim Belushi), The Act, House of Cards, Drop Dead Diva, Sleepy Hollow. Rebecca has also appeared in many independent films, some of which have garnered nominations and won awards on the festival circuit. She would like to express profound gratitude to her husband, Evan, for his continued love and support.

Tamara PiLar * (Luanne Cooper) is thrilled to be making her NC Stage Company debut! Off-Broadway: Twelfth Night, The Odyssey, As You Like It (Shakespeare in the Park, The Public Theater, NYC), Regional: Fairview, Asking Strangers The Meaning Of Life (Detroit Repertory Theatre), Hairspray (North Shore Music Theatre), Once On This Island, A Christmas Carol (Meadow Brook Theatre), Little Shop of Horrors (Crane School of Music), Dreamgirls (Gallery Players) TV: “Last Week Tonight” with John Oliver (HBO). Training: American Musical and Dramatic Academy, (NYC/LA). PiLar is also a singer-songwriter with music on all streaming platforms.
