Seeking DANCERS and SINGERS

SEEKING DANCERS (Wednesday, March 30th)

OPEN CALL: for non union and union male and female dancer/singers for the ensemble of Brave New World, a world premier musical based on the novel by Aldous Huxley, at NC Stage.

DANCE CALL: Wednesday, March 30th from noon to 6pm and will be held at Ballet Conservatory of Asheville, 6 East Chestnut St, Asheville.

REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE DATES: 4/12/16 through 5/10/16, previews 5/11/16 through 5/13/16. Official open is 5/14/16. Closes 6/5/16 with a possible extension to 6/12/16.

CONTRACT:  SPT
Cat. 4; $342/week AEA, Non Union Stipend

BREAKDOWN: In the World State, babies are engineered and grown in test tubes. As such, they are all perfect specimens; tall, beautiful, sexy, strong. They are given anti-aging hormones, so they all appear to be in their 20’s and 30’s, even when they are decades older.

Ensemble roles include various characters in the World State, as well as savages and lower caste members.  Looking for dancers and confident movers to make up the ensemble of the World State.  Experience with contemporary dance and hip hop a plus. Singing a plus.

PREPARATION: Auditions will be broken up into 6 one hour slots.  You will be taught a routine from the show in groups and be asked to perform it. You may be asked to sing 32 measures of an uptempo and ballad contemporary music theatre piece.

If you have already been seen for Brave New World there is no need to resubmit your materials.

By Appointment Only:

Email [email protected] in order to confirm and attach your picture and resume.

Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

DIRECTOR
Male, 30’s/40’s, strong, handsome, powerful, charismatic. As the leader of the World State, he’s the most powerful man around, and he loves every minute of it. Strong, powerful singer – baritone.
