Spotlight Series: Trinity Smith

Trinity Smith websiteAsheville native Trinity Smith has been seen in many productions in and around Asheville with Parkway Playhouse, Montford Park Players, ACT, ITP, The Magnetic Theatre, Different Strokes Performing Arts Collective, HART, and Rarely Theatre. This recently joined Equity actress looks like she will continue to make an even bigger splash on the stage.

Where did your performance career begin?

“My acting career actually began with the Asheville Youth Ensemble. It was a group of young actors that operated out of The Artists Resource Center down on Wall Street.”

The local Asheville theatre scene has been a significant catalyst in her career. “I’ve actually been attending NC Stage shows for a while now. In fact, I think the first show I saw was Proof.” Trinity actually shared the stage with Barbara Bates Smith (Vera in 4000 Miles) a few years ago in Eleemosynary.

What drew you to 4000 Miles?

Trinity thoughtfully explained, “I was initially intrigued by a play that focused on very real relationships. My favorite plays are the ones where I feel like I’m looking in on real life.”

Do you find any parallels between yourself and your character Bec?

She smiled. “I think I’m similar and dissimilar in equal measure. She’s defiantly more blunt when dealing with others than I am.”

If you had not chosen theatre as a profession what would you be doing right now?

“I wanted to be a librarian when I was a kid. I have a great love of books.”

Why do you think our audience should attend this production?

“I think people should come and see 4000 Miles because of how ‘real life’ it is… to watch natural moments and real relationships in life play out. I think there’s something incredible about that.”
