Celebrating Jeeves’ 5th Year

Austere aunts, clumsy cohorts and cousins, incommodious engagements.

These are the trials and tribulations that plague the infamous Jeeves and Bertie, time and time again. Throughout the last 4 years, this immortal pair have displayed their dilemmas on our stage, much to our delight.

Playwright Margaret Raether’s tales join the many iterations of Jeeves’ adventures conceived over the last 100+ years. Since P.G Wodehouse’s first short story in 1915, Jeeves and Bertie’s misfortunes have charmed readers, theatre-goers, and even TV devotees. Each tale, including Wodehouse’s original 35 short stories and 11 novels, drops the characters into sticky situations, often with similar themes, but adored nonetheless.  Each of Raether’s adaptations riffs off of Wodehouse, paying homage to the beloved characters while creating a unique tale.

Prior to Jeeves Saves the Day, Raether wrote 4 Jeeves productions, all of which were performed for our audiences. Let us reminisce…

2016: Jeeves Intervenes

1920s high-society London is thrown into chaos by hapless playboy Bertie Wooster, this time in cahoots with his old school chum Eustace Bassington-Bassington. The two hatch a brilliant plan to dupe their meddling relatives in order to save Bertie from an undesired marriage and Eustace from an unwanted job in India. But have no fear, the ever-faithful manservant Jeeves will rescue these bumbling fools from themselves.

2017: Jeeves in Bloom

The peaceful English countryside may never be the same after Bertie Wooster and his unflappable valet, Jeeves, pay a visit. What starts as a plan to pair tongue-tied, amphibian-loving Augustus Fink-Nottle and fanciful, poetry-loving Madeline Basset quickly goes awry. Soon, Bertie is fending off Madeline’s amorous advances, reluctantly participating in an attempted burglary, and fleeing attacks from a homicidal French chef. With the stakes this high, the solution lies with the one and only Jeeves!

2018: Jeeves Takes a Bow

Bertie Wooster inflicts his charming ineptitude on America when he adventures across the pond armed only with his handsome fortune, talent for trouble, and his remarkable manservant Jeeves. But when a childhood friend gets Bertie mixed up with a vengeful thug named “Knuckles” McCann, he ends up mistakenly engaged to the meddling Vivienne Duckworth. Even the illustrious Jeeves may not be up to that task.

2019: Jeeves at Sea

Set sail for laughter as Bertie Wooster revels in life aboard the Vanderley yacht. Bertie is the pampered guest of the lively Lady Stella (very fetching profile), accompanied, as always, by his peerless valet, Jeeves. If only Bertie’s pal Crumpet hadn’t assaulted a prince. In the blink of an eye, Bertie is masquerading as a romance novelist, Crumpet’s posing as his own long-lost twin, and a sinister foreign count is challenging Bertie to a duel. Will this madcap case of mistaken identities end in Bertie’s doom – or worse – his marriage? Have no fear; Jeeves will sort it all out.

We look forward to sharing a BRAND NEW never-before-seen Jeeves tale with you this year! Hurry and get your tickets today!
